How it all started...
Dr. Thomas Coke, an early District Superintendent of the Methodist Society, helped to establish Cokesbury Church in 1789 by setting aside a meeting place and burial ground for African American Methodists.
233 years later, Cokesbury United Methodist Church still remains as strong as it did all those years ago. We are striving to not only be part of the Port Deposit community but to uphold the values that created not only this church, but the legacy left from those before us.
